Isuzu Motors India (IMI), a subsidiary of Japan-based Isuzu Motors Limited, has celebrated 10 years of vehicle manufacturing at its Sri City plant in Andhra Pradesh, marking a decade of domestic production, export growth and operational expansion.
Inaugurated in April 2016, the facility has become a key manufacturing hub serving Indian and overseas markets, including the Middle East and neighbouring Asian countries. The company reached the milestone of producing its 100,000th Made-in-India vehicle in 2024 and has also exported more than one lakh engines.
In FY2024-25, IMI emerged as India’s leading commercial vehicle exporter, shipping 20,312 units, a 24% increase over the previous year, according to the company.
Naohiro Yamaguchi, president and CEO of Isuzu Motors Limited, said the Indian subsidiary had maintained consistent profitability since FY2022, alongside strong export growth. He said the company would focus on expanding exports while accelerating domestic market growth.
Rajesh Mittal, president and managing director of Isuzu Motors India, said the company recorded 2.5 times profitable growth in the previous year.
The plant employs more than 1,300 people, with local employees accounting for 82% of its workforce and women representing around 28% of production-line employees.
The company said it would continue investing in quality, localisation and sustainable manufacturing under its “Never Stop” philosophy.
