Israel says retaliatory strikes against Iran completed

Israel launched a series of airstrikes against Iran early on Saturday, claiming that the strikes were directed at military targets in retaliation for the Islamic Republic’s October 1, 2024, barrage of ballistic missiles, which included about 200 missiles fired at Israel. This was Iran’s second direct attack on Israel in six months. Tehran, the capital of Iran, was the site of audible explosions, although the Islamic Republic said that the damage was “limited.”

According to the person, “U.S. President Joe Biden received updates throughout the day on Friday as the operation progressed and by his national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, as the Israelis carried out the operation.” The White House warned Tehran of “consequences” if it retaliates, but said that Israel’s attacks on Iran should put an end to the direct firefight between the two adversaries. Iran’s state news agency IRNA announced on Saturday that flights on all lines have been canceled until further notice, according to a spokesman for the country’s Civil Aviation Organization.
