ISL returns with MG title sponsorship as 2026-27 season enters new commercial era

The Indian Super League (ISL) will be known as the MG Indian Super League for the 2026-27 season after the league entered into a title sponsorship partnership with JSW MG Motor India, marking the return of a title sponsor after three seasons.

The partnership comes ahead of the new season, which begins on October 10, and marks the ISL’s transition into a club-led commercial era, with the league placing greater emphasis on accessibility, fan engagement and building a sustainable football ecosystem in India.

ISL CEO Karan Yadav said the return of a title sponsor was a significant milestone and reflected growing belief in the opportunities around Indian football. JSW MG Motor India Chief Commercial Officer Vinay Raina said the partnership would build on MG’s association with football and create new fan experiences across the country.

MG, a 102-year-old British automotive brand, has maintained a strong association with football globally and in India. Its sporting partnerships include Liverpool FC and Arsenal, while in India it has supported the Patan Girls grassroots football team and women athletes including Tvesa Malik, Bhavina Patel and Deepa Malik.

In Kolkata, the renewed commercial push around the ISL could provide greater visibility for football, brands and fan engagement in one of India’s strongest football markets. Kolkata’s deep-rooted football culture and large club-following base could make the city an important market for the league’s wider commercial ambitions.

The 2026-27 season will return to a full home-and-away format. Bengaluru FC will host Sporting Club Delhi in the opening match at Sree Kanteerava Stadium, while FC Goa will face Chennaiyin FC at Fatorda Stadium.
