The Punjab government on Tuesday extended the suspension of mobile internet and SMS services in some areas of Taran Taran, Ferozepur, Moga, Sangrur, Amritsar’s Ajnala division and Mohali till Thursday noon.
According to a directive from the home and justice departments, the barricades will be lifted from the rest of the state from midday on Tuesday. The Punjab government on Saturday imposed restrictions on mobile internet and SMS services as the state police force launched a major crackdown on extremist campaigner Amritpal Singh and members of his outfit “Waris Punjab De”.
