In a notable advancement reflecting the rise of student-led entrepreneurship and deep-tech innovation, IIT Guwahati’s startup, Genuity IO Pvt. Ltd., engaged nearly 2,000 students from 23 IITs during the Inter IIT Tech Meet 14.0. As a BioNEST-incubated venture founded by Adari Karthikeya and Shivansh Gupta, both third-year IIT Guwahati students, Genuity IO designed and presented a no-prep problem statement centered on algorithmic optimization. This initiative encouraged participants to apply critical thinking and innovative solutions to real-world technical challenges. The startup’s active involvement in this prominent national technical event highlights IIT Guwahati’s thriving ecosystem for deep-tech innovation and entrepreneurship, distinguishing it as a rare case where a student-founded startup has significantly influenced the technical agenda of a national competition typically dominated by established industry players. Swapnil Sinha, CEO of IIT Guwahati-BioNEST, noted the rapid evolution of North East India’s startup ecosystem, emphasizing the role of IITG BioNEST in transforming ideas into scalable, innovative ventures through structured mentoring and industry connections. The participation of Genuity IO not only reinforces IIT Guwahati BioNEST’s status as a center for innovation but also enhances the Institute’s national profile as a leading nurturer of student startups contributing to India’s technological landscape. Adari Karthikeya expressed gratitude for the support received from IIT Guwahati and BioNEST, which enabled their impactful engagement at the Inter IIT Tech Meet and interactions with top student innovators across the IIT system.
