Telecom infrastructure company Indus Towers has expanded its flood relief operations in Assam, extending assistance to around 1,100 flood-affected families across Charaideo, Sivasagar and Jorhat districts as the state continues to grapple with the impact of severe flooding.
The relief distribution was carried out under the company’s flagship corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, Pragati, through centres at Sonari and Teok. Families received comprehensive relief kits containing dry rations, WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) supplies and essential medical items. Specially designed kits were also distributed to pregnant women, new mothers and children aged between six months and two years to address their specific nutritional and healthcare requirements.
RajenderGurung, Circle CEO (NESA), Indus Towers Limited, said the floods had disrupted access to food, healthcare and other basic necessities for thousands of families. He said the company remained committed to supporting relief, recovery and resilience-building efforts across the Northeast. Employees of the company also visited affected areas and interacted with beneficiaries during the distribution programme.
The relief initiative was implemented by the Northeast Affected Area Development Society (NEAID). The company noted that its recent flood relief work in Arunachal Pradesh reflects its continued focus on assisting disaster-affected communities across the region.
In Dibrugarh, the relief initiative is expected to provide indirect support to communities and local supply chains in Upper Assam. With Dibrugarh serving as a major commercial hub for the region, sustained corporate-led humanitarian assistance can help stabilise demand for essential goods while complementing government-led disaster response and rehabilitation efforts.
