Indra Hang Subba’s AI event proposal gains support from Union Minister

Sikkim’s Lok Sabha MP Indra Hang Subba has proposed organizing a large-scale Artificial Intelligence (AI) event in the state to highlight Northeast India’s potential in AI-driven innovation and ensure its stronger representation in the national AI policy.

The proposal has received a positive response from Union Minister for Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, who acknowledged the event’s strategic role in boosting technological advancements, skill development, and economic growth. He assured further discussions on its feasibility.

MP Subba emphasized that Northeast India is rich in talent and needs a dedicated AI platform to empower youth, entrepreneurs, and researchers. “This initiative will enhance digital transformation and integrate the region into India’s AI landscape,” he said.
