The IndiaSkills National Competition 2025–26 concluded at the India Expo Mart, Greater Noida, marking a major milestone in India’s push to build a globally competitive skilled workforce. Organised by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and supported by the National Skill Development Corporation, the event brought together over 650 participants across 63 skill categories. A total of 288 competitors were awarded medals, including 63 gold, 64 silver, 68 bronze, and 93 medallions for excellence, with 45 women among the winners. Odisha emerged as the top-performing state with 57 medals, followed by Tamil Nadu with 46.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary said the platform reflects India’s evolving identity as a skill-driven nation, backed by major investments of ₹84,000 crore in education and ₹60,000 crore in skill institutions. Leaders from Bihar, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana highlighted the growing role of skilling in driving employment, innovation, and self-reliance.
Participants were evaluated on global standards across sectors ranging from cloud computing and robotics to hospitality and fashion technology. The competition saw participation from over 3.65 lakh youth across 36 states and UTs, with winners set to represent India at the WorldSkills Shanghai 2026. In Guwahati, the emphasis on advanced and industry-aligned skills is expected to boost local employability, particularly in sectors like IT, construction, and services. Skill-driven initiatives could also strengthen Assam’s startup ecosystem and improve job readiness among youth, aligning the region with national skilling and economic growth trends.
