IndiaSkills 2024: 58 winners to represent India at WorldSkills in France

The IndiaSkills National Competition 2024 concluded with a spectacular ceremony at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, showcasing the exceptional talent of young participants from across the nation. Over the course of four days, from May 15th to 19th, more than 900 candidates from 30+ states and Union Territories competed in 61 diverse skills, ranging from traditional trades like Bricklaying and Carpentry to new-age technologies such as 3D Digital Game Art and Cloud Computing.The event culminated with the announcement that 58 top performers across 52 skills will represent India at the WorldSkills Competition in Lyon, France, scheduled for September 2024. Odisha led the medal tally with an impressive haul of 17 Gold, 13 Silver, 9 Bronze, and 12 Medallions for Excellence. Karnataka and Tamil Nadu also performed strongly, securing numerous medals and recognition.

The closing ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship; renowned filmmaker Padmashri Shri Ramesh Sippy; Dr. Nirmaljeet Singh Kalsi, Chairman, NCVET; and actor Aparshakti Khurana. Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari praised the competition’s scale and the meticulous organization by MSDE and NSDC. “With over 250,000 applications and a significant increase in female participation, the scale of IndiaSkills 2024 is unprecedented,” he said.

Participants were evaluated rigorously by industry experts on their technical skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities, ensuring that only the most deserving were selected to represent India globally. The event also highlighted increased female participation in traditionally male-dominated trades.IndiaSkills 2024, supported by over 400 industry and academic partners, provided participants with not just a competitive platform but also invaluable networking and professional development opportunities. The introduction of a competition information system, Qrencia, and the alignment with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), further empowered participants to creditize their learning outcomes and enhance their career prospects.
