India’s youth compete at WorldSkills 2024, boosted by Minister Jayant Chaudhary’s visit

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, attended the grand opening ceremony of the WorldSkills 2024 in Lyon, France, where 60 young competitors from India are representing the country in 52 skills. French President Emmanuel Macron inaugurated the event at the LDLC Arena, marking the start of the competition, which has drawn over 13,000 attendees from around the world.

Team India made a notable entrance during the Parade of Nations, exuding confidence and pride as they showcased their traditional attire. The team, led by flagbearer Shreyansh Sharma from Jaipur, Rajasthan, will compete in skills such as 3D Digital Game Art, Cloud Computing, Welding, and Fashion Technology, among others.Speaking at the event, Shri Jayant Chaudhary praised the young participants, stating, “These 60 champions from India are not just competing but are shaping the future with their skills, innovation, and determination.” This participation aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a global hub for skilled talent.

Guwahati is expected to witness positive impacts from this global event, as many industries in Assam look to skilled professionals to drive technological and economic growth, particularly in sectors like manufacturing, IT, and hospitality.WorldSkills 2024 runs from September 10-15, featuring competitors from 70 nations.
