Indian Railway Mall Warehouse Workers Gets Recognition from Government

After years of tireless efforts and struggle of the Indian Railway Mall Warehouse Workers Union, the Ministry of Labor, Government of India, considering the demands raised by the Union, ordered to register the goods warehouse workers on the e-shram portal. This decision gave the goods warehouse workers of railways an identity all over India.

The Indian Railway Goods Warehouse Workers Union held small meetings with railway goods warehouse workers and their families at various places across India from 26 to 28 January 2022 under the COVID-19 guidelines issued by the govt. The workers and their families pointed out certain demands and stated that there is a need to provide a fixed contract for ‘wages’ to all the Railway Goods Shed workers, and Majorly Arrangement of wage receipt should be made to prevent corruption. According to Digital India the wages should be transferred directly into the account of the workers. According to Ayushman Bharat, all employees of Railway Goods Shed should have proper basic facilities like drinking water, proper toilets, canteen in railway shed, free medicine for workers and their families, accident insurance, rail pass, pension benefits and job replacement for the same needed. A family member gets a job in case of an accident. Facilities like child education, housing, proper dress code and proper identity card should be provided.

Spokesperson Parimal Kanti Mandal said that his identity is the most important thing in a person’s life. The Ministry of Labour, Government of India has led our warehouse workers to a new direction in life by giving them the same identity. Today, the workers of Railway Mall Godown Shramik Union are seeing a new ray of hope because of the efforts made by us. I thank the Ministry of Labor, Government of India and all the people working in my union. Though all our demands have not been fulfilled yet, some are being considered by the Ministry. For which we are working with more enthusiasm. We sent a thank you letter on behalf of our union to the Ministry of Labor, in response to which “D.P.S. Negi ji”, the Chief Labor Commissioner encouraged the work of our union and guided us by giving us his best wishes. So, that we continue our efforts in the same way and keep working with more energy for the interests of warehouse workers and their family’s future.
