Indian National Congress Accuses Himanta Biswa Sarma; Assam CM Responds Strongly

Congress has accused Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his wife Riniki Bhuyan Sarma of holding passports from the UAE, Egypt, and Antigua and Barbuda, along with undisclosed assets in the UAE and the U.S. During a press conference, Congress leader Pawan Khera called for an investigation, arguing that this could violate Indian law. He further alleged that Sarma’s family has financial connections to shell companies in Wyoming, suggesting these were used to conceal wealth. Khera demanded explanations regarding Sarma’s wealth, which he claimed amounts to 52,000 crore rupees, and insisted Sarma should be imprisoned. In response, Sarma dismissed the allegations as politically motivated and malicious, stating his intention to file defamation cases against Khera. He expressed confidence in the legal system and in securing a strong electoral mandate for his party in Assam.
