Indian Dietetic Association’s Bengal Chapter hosted a nutrition professional event

The Indian Dietetic Association’s Bengal Chapter, in partnership with the Almond Board of California, organized a nutrition professional event at The Park in Kolkata. Ritika Samaddar, Max Healthcare’s Regional Head of Dietetics, discussed three recent research studies funded by the Almond Board of California, emphasizing the health benefits of incorporating almonds into daily diets.The session, followed by a panel discussion, was moderated by Mrs. Malabika Dutta, Convener, IDA Bengal Chapter.

The panelists included Ritika Samaddar, Regional Head of Dietetics at Max Healthcare; Mrs. Malabika Dutta, Convener, IDA Bengal Chapter; Mrs. Shanoli Mazumdar, Secretary, IDA Bengal Chapter; Mrs. Jajnaseni Amboli Mukherjee,Joint Secretary, IDA Bengal Chapter.Ritika Samaddar presented research by Dr. Anoop Misra, Dr. Alison Coates, and Dr. Oliver C. Witard, which found that daily almond consumption can improve muscle function during exercise recovery, regulate blood sugar levels in prediabetes, and aid in weight management.

 Ritika Samaddar, in a Witard Study, emphasized the benefits of almonds for maintaining a balanced diet, aiding muscle recovery, and improving physical performance. She also supported the Misra study, which highlights almonds’ healthy fats, fiber, and protein in improving glycemic control. Samaddar also praised the Coates study, which found almonds to be highly beneficial due to their 15 essential nutrients, including protein, fiber, vitamin E, calcium, copper, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, and healthy fats, all contributing to overall well-being.
