India to get First ‘Made-In-India’ Aircraft Carrier Next Year

Indian Navy to get first ‘made in India’ aircraft, INS Vikrant next year. INS Vikrant will be commissioned to the Indian Navy after its final trial.

In a statement at the southern naval command in Kochi today, Rajnath Singh described it as “India’s pride and a shining example of Atmanirbhar Bharat” and “Commissioning of this IAC next year would be a befitting tribute to the 75th year of India’s independence”

INS Vikrant is 262 meters long and 62 meters wide and displaces about 40,000 metric tons. It features a STOBAR configuration with a ski jump. The carrier has been designed by the Directorate of Naval Design of the Indian Navy and built by Cochin Shipyard.
