At GITEX Africa 2025, Africa’s largest tech and startup show, India underscored the importance of knowledge transfer and technology sharing for driving collective economic growth. With a focus on inclusive and equitable digitalization, the event brought together policy leaders, changemakers, and visionaries from across the globe to discuss collaborative efforts in advancing the digital economy.
India’s fast-paced digitalization, exemplified by the country’s open-source Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) systems, has positioned it as a leader in global technological innovation. Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Hon’ble Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, represented India at the summit, emphasizing India’s strides in AI and its pivotal role in driving AI talent growth, with a 33.39% year-on-year increase in AI hiring, according to the AI Stanford Index 2025.
“India’s Digital Public Infrastructure has revolutionized sectors like digital identity (Aadhaar), payments (UPI), and e-commerce (ONDC), with technologies like AI, fintech, and cybersecurity now being integrated into our skilling ecosystem,” said Shri Chaudhary. He also highlighted the vast potential for collaboration with African nations in areas like AI and digital infrastructure. In Guwahati, local startups and businesses can find value in India’s global leadership in DPI systems. As digital technologies gain traction in Northeast India, local industries could benefit from India’s scalable, inclusive digital models, fostering greater innovation and growth in the region.
