India reported a one-day spike of 7,171 new coronavirus cases, while active cases declined to 51,314, according to union health ministry data updated on Saturday.
With 40 deaths, the death toll rose to 5,31,508, of which Kerala, for 15, updated data at 8 am.
The total number of Covid cases recorded at 4.49 crore.
Active cases now account for 0.11 percent of total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.70 percent, according to the health ministry’s website.
The number of people who have recovered from the disease has increased to 4,43,56,693 while the case fatality rate has been recorded at 1.18 per cent. According to the ministry’s website, 220.66 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far.
