A new organization named Bangla Liver Caucus (BALICA) has been announced with liver experts from India and Bangladesh with the aim of bringing the latest liver treatments and liver exercises in Bengali language to the doorsteps of Bengali liver patients. This 5-member committee was formed at the 5th Padma Ganga Gomti Liver Conference in Agartala, capital of Tripura state, India, on Sunday (June 9). This organization will work on a single, integrated platform of Bengali liver specialists, Bengali experts interested in liver, Bengali scientists interested in liver research and Bengali social workers interested in creating awareness about liver disease scattered in different parts of the world including Bangladesh, West Bengal, Tripura.
Agartala Liver Specialist Professor Dr. Pradeep Bhowmik as President and Japan’s Liver Specialist Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Fazle Akbar as General Secretary has been constituted a 5-member executive committee. The other members of the 5-member committee are vice-chairman Calcutta liver specialist Dr. Sanjoy Banerjee, joint general secretary Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Chief Interventional Hepatology Division Professor Mamun Al Mahtab Sapneel and executive member, Helal Uddin.
Apart from this, Gurgaon Professor Dr. Gurdas Chowdhury, New Delhi Professor Dr. Premashish Kar and Kolkata Professor Dr. Jyotirmoy Pal are also members of Balikar’s Advisory Committee. In a message on the occasion of the 5th Padma Ganga Gomti Liver Conference organized by Balika, Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wished the success of the conference and expressed hope that this conference will play an effective role in increasing mutual communication and scientific cooperation among Bengali liver specialists.
