India Launched New Visa Application Center in Bangladesh

India’s people-to-people ties with Bangladesh are one of the most engaging in the subcontinent, with Border Haats being established and the number of Bangladeshi nationals visiting India every year. Before COVID-19, India issued more than 16 lakh visas to Bangladeshi citizens, and even at peak COVID-19, India issued close to 2 lakh medical visas for Bangladeshi nationals.

Looking at the growing number of visas issued by Indian authorities to the people of Bangladesh, India inaugurated a new Indian Visa Application Center (IVAC) at Kushtia on Sunday. This became the 16th IVAC in Bangladesh and was inaugurated by India’s High Commissioner Pranay Verma.

The Indian High Commission in Dhaka after the event tweeted certain important aspects highlighted by HC Verma at the inauguration, “HC Pranay Verma underlined efforts being made to constantly improve visa facilities for the people of Bangladesh and highlighted recent steps taken by the High Commission to facilitate smoother visa services for the citizens of Bangladesh.
