India, Egypt deepen strategic ties through skill development collaboration

In a significant boost to India-Egypt relations, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) hosted a high-level Egyptian delegation led by H.E. Prof. Dr. Ayman Bahaa El Din, Deputy Minister of Technical Education, in New Delhi. The meeting at Kaushal Bhawan focused on enhancing cooperation in vocational training and skill development, reinforcing the 2023 upgrade of bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership.

MSDE Secretary Atul Kumar Tiwari emphasized India’s commitment to becoming the “Skill Capital of the World” under the Skill India Mission, having trained over 400,000 individuals in advanced domains like AI, robotics, and big data, while supporting 1.3 million entrepreneurs. India showcased its global-standard TVET ecosystem and the establishment of world-class Skill India International Centres as templates for collaboration.

The Egyptian side highlighted ongoing TVET reforms, including EU-backed initiatives and Sector Skill Councils, which align with India’s scalable, cost-effective skilling models. Success stories such as the NIELIT-ITI MoU, El-Sewedy-Amity partnership, and the Cairo-based Vocational Training Centre were praised. In Guwahati, such collaborations can open new opportunities for youth in Assam, especially in IT and green skills sectors, fostering regional growth through international exposure and digital skilling. Both nations aim to launch joint certifications, exchange programmes, and Centres of Excellence, aligning with a broader South-South cooperation vision.
