India on Friday stated that a technical malfunction led to unintentional firing of a missile into Pakistan and the incident is “deeply regretted”.
“On 9 March 2022, in the route of events maintenance, a technical malfunction led to the accidental firing of a missile. The Government of India has taken a serious view and ordered a high-level Court of Enquiry,” the defence ministry stated in a statement.
It introduced that the missile landed in an area of Pakistan and the incident is “deeply regrettable”.
The ministry stated it is a matter of relief that there has been no loss of existence due to the accident.
Earlier, Pakistan had summoned India’s Charge d’Affaires and conveyed its strong protest over what it described as an “unprovoked violation of its airspace by means of an Indian-origin “super-sonic flying object”.
