In Siliguri, Rozgar Mela 2.0 sees massive turnout as 60+ top companies offer 10,000+ jobs

The opening day of RozgarMela 2.0 in Siliguri saw a massive turnout on Saturday as thousands of jobseekers queued up for more than 10,000 employment opportunities offered by over 60 leading companies from across India. Organised by the Darjeeling Welfare Society, the fair is drawing aspirants from North Bengal, the hill districts and neighbouring regions.

Top recruiters participating in the fair include HDFC, Axis Bank, Bandhan Bank, Hero MotoCorp, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Electronics, Taj Group, ITC, Indigo Airlines and Apollo Hospitals, among several other employers offering PAN-India and regional placements. This year’s drive features a 100% in-person process, beginning with career counselling sessions followed by personal interviews, helping candidates clearly understand job roles before their assessment.

Industry observers say the momentum seen in Siliguri reflects a broader employment revival. Recruiters active note rising demand in sectors like banking, hospitality, ITES and aviation, and believe such large-scale fairs can boost regional hiring, skill mobility and inter-state opportunities for youth across adjoining markets. Speaking on Day 1, Shri Harsh Vardhan Shringla, RajyaSabha MP and President of the Darjeeling Welfare Society, said the response shows the youth’s hunger for credible job pathways and aligns with the Prime Minister’s Viksit Bharat vision. MPs Shri Samik Bhattacharya and Shri Jayanto Kumar Roy, along with Shri Ram LalJi, praised the initiative for bridging skill and opportunity. With several candidates receiving on-spot offers, Day 2 is expected to draw even larger participation.
