Ikkis Gets Early Love as Mukesh Chhabra Highlights Strong Cast Chemistry

Sriram Raghavan’s film Ikkis has generated significant anticipation as one of the most awaited releases of the year. This biographical war drama marks several notable milestones: it is the theatrical debut of Agastya Nanda, grandson of the iconic Amitabh Bachchan, and represents the inaugural performance of Simar Bhatia, niece of renowned actor Akshay Kumar. Additionally, Ikkis is marked by its importance as the last film of legendary superstar Dharmendra. However, the film’s release has faced delays, initially scheduled to premiere earlier but now confirmed for a clash-free theatrical release on January 1, 2026. In the lead-up to the release, a special screening of Ikkis was held in Mumbai, where the first review was shared by casting director Mukesh Chhabra, providing insights into the film ahead of its debut.

This morning, Mukesh Chhabra shared an impassioned review of the film Ikkis via his official social media. He praised it as “a film made purely from the heart,” noting its gentle and honest storytelling that leaves a lasting impact. Chhabra expressed admiration for Dharmendra, emphasizing the grace and depth of his performance, and called it heartbreaking if this were indeed his last film. He acknowledged Jaideep Ahlawat’s outstanding performance, expressing gratitude for being pleasantly surprised by it. Chhabra also welcomed newcomers Agastya Nanda and Simar Bhatia, highlighting their beautiful on-screen presence and chemistry, as well as Agastya’s innocence and sincerity. He made special mentions of Vivan Shah and Sikandar Kher for their excellent work. Ultimately, he recognized Sriram Raghavan as the master behind the film, celebrating it as a heartfelt narrative steeped in honesty and personal resonance, reinforcing the film’s significant emotional weight.

The film “Ikkis” is inspired by the true story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, who became a martyr at the young age of 21 during the 1971 India-Pakistan War. Recently, the film received a commendation from renowned Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan, who, in his review, expressed his admiration for the film. He stated that the performance of the lead actor captivates the viewer, asserting that his perspective is not just that of a grandfather, but as an experienced cinema connoisseur. Bachchan praised the film for its exceptional presentation, writing, and direction, concluding that its emotional impact left him filled with tears of joy and pride as it came to a close, rendering him momentarily speechless.

In the film, Agastya is cast as Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, while Dharam Paaji plays the role of Brigadier ML Khetarpal (Retd.), Arun’s father.
