IIM Bangalore launches groundbreaking online undergraduate programme

Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) has launched a pioneering online undergraduate programme in Digital Business and Entrepreneurship, starting in September 2024. This initiative, delivered through IIMB’s digital learning platform IIMBx, marks the institution’s foray into undergraduate education.The three-year Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programme, directed by Prof. Suresh Bhagavatula, will blend digital technology, business management principles, and entrepreneurial skills. It aims to equip students with the necessary tools to thrive in a competitive business environment, offering internships and practical projects to enhance real-world learning experiences.IIM Bangalore’s reputation for excellence in education and leadership in Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) is further solidified with this programme. Professor Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director of IIMB, highlighted the flexible structure of the course, including a test for entrance and a flexible exit policy. “The programme is designed to produce graduates who can drive digital transformation in traditional businesses or become entrepreneurs in the digital sector,” he said.

A key feature of the programme is its alignment with India’s vision for the future, aiming to boost the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in higher education and address educational challenges by providing accessible, industry-relevant education. The curriculum integrates digital and management fundamentals, fostering self-learning and digitally savvy graduates.The programme’s launch has significant implications for markets like Guwahati, where there is a growing demand for digitally skilled professionals.
