ICICI Prudential simplifies flood claims process for Assam policyholders

ICICI Prudential Life Insurance has announced a simplified claims settlement process for nominees and beneficiaries of policyholders affected by the devastating floods in Assam, aiming to provide faster financial assistance to bereaved families. The company said it will process death claims on the basis of just three essential documents to ensure quicker settlements during the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

Under the revised procedure, nominees can submit a death certificate or any official record issued by government, hospital or police authorities, or proof of compensation provided by the Central or State government as evidence of death. In addition, claimants need to furnish the nominee’s bank account details with IFSC code or a cancelled cheque, along with valid KYC documents. To facilitate the process, the insurer has activated a dedicated 24×7 ClaimCare toll-free helpline (1800-2660). Claims can also be initiated through email, SMS, the company’s mobile application or its official website.

Sarang Gokhale, Chief – Underwriting & Retail Claims at ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, said the company stands in solidarity with families affected by the Assam floods and is committed to settling all eligible death claims swiftly. He said the insurer has recorded an industry-leading claim settlement ratio of 99.3 per cent in the first quarter of FY2027, with an average claim settlement turnaround time of just one day.

In Dibrugarh, the initiative is expected to benefit policyholders and their families in Upper Assam, where flood-related disruptions have affected thousands of households. The simplified documentation process and multiple digital claim submission channels are likely to improve access to insurance benefits for customers in Dibrugarh and neighbouring districts, reducing delays in financial support during the recovery phase.
