Hygienic fish processing skill development training was conducted in Kamrup

The ICAR–Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (ICAR-CIFT), Cochin, arranged a two-day skill development training program on Hygienic Handling and Quality Upgradation of Traditional Fishery Products of Assam at the Training Hall of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kamrup, as part of the North East Hill (NEH) Program. The program was carried out in partnership with KVK, Kamrup, with the aim of offering practical direction and hands-on training for the production of high-quality traditional fisheries products using efficient and hygienic processing techniques.

Fish pickle, dried fish, chutney powder, and fish cutlet are only a few of the value-added fishery products whose quality and hygienic characteristics were the main topics of the training. The workshop was attended by twenty-five female participants from the Kamrup district. Dr. Sonmoina Bhuyan, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Kamrup, led the program. Dr. KA Martin Xavier, Senior Scientist, Dr. AA Zynudheen, Principal Scientist and Head of the Quality Assurance and Management (QAM) Division, and Dr. Aneesh P.A., Technical Officer, ICAR-CIFT, led technical sessions.
