Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, announced on Wednesday that the state government’s “Mukhyamantri Vidhwa Evam Ekal Nari Awas Yojna”—a programme to give eligible widows and single women financial aid for the construction of homes—would soon be launched. According to a statement released here, about 7,000 women with yearly incomes of less than Rs 2 lakh would receive a total of Rs 1.5 lakh in financial support under this programme during the current fiscal year. The programme was revealed at the budget meeting. The scheme’s modalities are being finalised by the Department of Women and Child Development. The state government’s program, according to the chief minister, will give these ladies much-needed support since they frequently struggle to build homes due to budgetary limitations.
