Three Hooghly students have achieved top ranks in the SOF Olympiad exam for 2023-24. Soura Shis Roy, a second-grade student from Sarada Vidyapith, achieved the first rank in the International Mathematics Olympiad, earning an international gold medal and merit certificate. Adrik Ghosh, a second-grade student from Bansberia Happy Valley School, also claimed the first rank in the International General Knowledge Olympiad, receiving an international gold medal and a merit certificate. Aarvi Pal, a first-grade student from Bansberia Happy Valley School, also claimed the second rank in the International English Olympiad, earning an international silver medal and a merit certificate.
The Science Olympiad Foundation held an awards ceremony in New Delhi to recognize the top three worldwide rank holders from grade 1 to 12 who participated in seven Olympiad exams for the academic year 2023-24. Distinguished guests included former Chief Justice of India, Justice Dipak Misra, and renowned author Chetan Bhagat.
At the ceremony, former chief Justice of India, Justice Dipak Misra addressed the gathering of over 700 attendees, he said, “When you talk about competition, success follows it because everyone competes to succeed. Success is the real achievement”. This year’s SOF Olympiad saw participation from approximately millions of students across 70 countries, including over 28,594 students from Hooghly. Notable schools from Hooghly, including Don Bosco School, Vision International School were among the participants.
