Honda hits 10 million sales milestone in East, strengthens grip in key markets

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has achieved a major milestone of 10 million cumulative sales in India’s East region, underlining its growing dominance across states such as West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand and the North-East. The company said the achievement reflects steady expansion across metro and semi-urban markets, where two-wheelers remain central to daily mobility.

The East has emerged as a key growth engine for HMSI, driven by strong demand in cities like Kolkata, Patna, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar and Guwahati. Popular models such as the Honda Activa and Honda Dio in the scooter segment, along with Honda SP125 and Honda Shine 125, have significantly contributed to volumes. HMSI currently operates over 1,200 sales and service touchpoints in the region.

Commenting on the milestone, Mutsuo Usui, Director – Sales & Marketing, said the achievement reflects deep integration of Honda products into everyday mobility and growing customer trust across diverse markets.

In Guwahati, the two-wheeler market continues to witness steady demand, particularly from young commuters and first-time buyers. Industry observers note that rising urban expansion, improved road connectivity and aspirational buying trends are boosting sales of scooters like Activa and motorcycles in the 125cc segment. HMSI’s strong dealership and service network in the city has helped it maintain visibility and customer confidence in a competitive market.
