Hindustan Syringes and Medical Devices (HMD) has introduced a unique Dispojekt single-use syringe with safety needle, ensuring nurses’ safety from needle stick injuries (NSIs). Dispojekt Syringes by HMD comes as a befitting tribute to the perseverance and resilience of nurses on the World Nurse Day. Approximately 27 million men and women make up the global nursing and midwifery workforce. This accounts for nearly 50% of the global health workforce.
The Dispojekt SIP shield offers a user-friendly, affordable, and competitively priced safety mechanism, a sharp three-bevelled siliconized needle, and a one-handed activated safety mechanism after needle withdrawal. Rajiv Nath, Managing Director, Hindustan Syringes and Medical Devices (HMD) said, “Nurses worldwide face a significant risk of needle-stick injuries every day, posing a serious health hazard due to potential exposure to blood borne pathogens. Dispojekt Syringes addresses this concern effectively taking care of those, who takes care of us”.
According to the WHO (World Health Organisation), over 16 billion injections are administered annually in transitional and developing countries the world over. A 2003 WHO report revealed that accidental NSIs caused 3 million new Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HIV cases in healthcare workers, despite appearing harmless.
