Hindustan Zinc Limited on Wednesday announced the launch of ‘Zinc Moolya’, an INR live pricing module on its digital metal procurement platform Vedanta Metal Bazaar, marking a major step towards transparent and inclusive price discovery for India’s MSMEs. The launch coincided with India’s 77th Republic Day. The first-of-its-kind module allows buyers to view, book and lock real-time zinc prices in Indian Rupees, dynamically linked to global benchmarks on the London Metal Exchange. Aimed particularly at small-volume buyers and MSMEs, Zinc Moolya removes traditional scale-based entry barriers and enables faster, data-driven procurement decisions.
Vedanta Metal Bazaar, launched in 2022 as India’s first online metal marketplace, offers end-to-end digital transactions with live pricing and full transparency. The addition of Zinc Moolya further strengthens the platform by providing live landed INR prices, greater pricing agility and improved market visibility. Commenting on the initiative, Arun Misra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc, said the platform empowers MSMEs with the same real-time pricing access as large buyers, supporting the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat through technology-led transparency.
In Kolkata market said the introduction of real-time INR-linked pricing is expected to benefit eastern India’s MSME clusters engaged in galvanizing, infrastructure and manufacturing. With easier access to transparent prices aligned with global benchmarks, Kolkata-based buyers are likely to see improved procurement planning, reduced price uncertainty and stronger integration with national and export supply chains.
