Assam Pradesh Mahila Congress President Mira Borthakur on Saturday visited the residence of Himashree Boro, a young woman from Assam who died under mysterious circumstances in Andhra Pradesh while returning home by train. Leading a delegation of the Mahila Congress, she met with the bereaved parents and expressed her deepest condolences.
Expressing profound grief over the tragic demise, Mira Borthakur took to social media to voice strong concerns. Demanding that the truth behind the incident be uncovered, she stated that collective responsibility cannot end merely with offering condolences; it is equally critical to determine the cause of the incident, fix accountability, and implement measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
In her statement shared on social media, the Congress leader remarked that it is heartbreaking to see Himashree’s lifeless body return to the home she was meant to come back to with joy and laughter. She noted that the family’s grief and the pain of losing a loved one cannot be captured in words.
Questioning the safety and sanctity of citizens’ lives, she asked: “Why has human life become so dispensable today? Why is a precious life lost so easily? Does our duty end with merely expressing grief after every death? Or is it equally urgent to investigate the cause, determine accountability, and take concrete measures to prevent such recurrences?”
She strongly demanded that the actual cause of Himashree Boro’s death be brought to light without delay. She added that if negligence or dereliction of duty by any party is linked to the incident, an impartial inquiry must hold the culprits accountable and ensure exemplary action is taken. Highlighting that the loss of a life is irreparable not only for a family but for society as a whole, she noted that Himashree’s untimely death forces society to reflect on whether human life is truly valued.
She extended heartfelt sympathies to the grieving family, and appealed for public support across social media platforms to demand justice for Himashree.
