Himanta Biswa Sarma shared a video of an elderly woman asking help over land disputes

A video shared by Sarma on his Twitter handle shows him interacting with the woman, a resident of Kokrajhar. Along with the shared video, Sarma tweeted, asking DC and SP to look into the issue.

Sarma tweeted, “God’s grace to be able to serve! Advised DC and SP of Kokrajhar to address issues faced by the revered old lady.”

The woman in the video mentions that she is getting Rs 250 per month as pension. For this, Himanta Biswa Sharma asked officials to bring him under the Assam government’s flagship Arunodoi scheme and ensure that he gets a monthly pension of ₹1,250 from February next year.

In detail about Orunodoi Scheme, Orunodoi Scheme was launched in 2020 by Govt. Also this scheme has more than 19.32 lakh beneficiaries so far.

The two objectives of the scheme are the economic empowerment of women and bringing out the poor from the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category, in line with the government’s commitment to Sustainable Development Goals.
