Himanta Biswa Sarma Says Public Response to His Social Media Posts Reflects His Work as CM

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said the messages conveyed through his social media posts are open to interpretation, stating that while he can put out a post, he cannot explain what lies behind its underlying message.

Speaking about his posts on X, Sarma said it was for people to interpret what he intended to convey through his social media updates.

“I can post, but how can I explain the underlying message within the post? That is for you to interpret,” Sarma said.

The Chief Minister also spoke about the high engagement his social media posts receive, saying people widely circulate and engage with his content because they appreciate what he posts.

Sarma pointed to the reach of his posts on Instagram, saying some of his posts had received one million and two million views, while some had even crossed 10 million views.

He said the level of public response to his social media activity was also connected to how people viewed his work as Chief Minister.

According to Sarma, appreciation from the public could continue as long as his performance remained positive, but the response could change if people felt his work was not good.

“People like them. As long as the work remains good, they will appreciate it; if I do something bad, they will view it negatively,” he said.
