The Guwahati Traffic Police has announced traffic restrictions from February 24 to 26, 2025, in light of two major events—Jhumoir Binandini at Sarusajai Sports Complex and Advantage Assam 2.0 at Khanapara Veterinary Field. The measures have been put in place to ensure smooth vehicular movement, public convenience, and the unhindered operation of emergency services such as ambulances and fire tenders.
For the Jhumoir Binandini event at Sarusajai Sports Complex, designated routes have been assigned for different categories of visitors. GOLD Pass holders will enter through Gate No. 1B, alight near the main roundabout, and park near the Indoor Stadium. At Khanapara Veterinary Field, where Advantage Assam 2.0 is set to take place, a similar traffic management plan has been laid out. SAFFRON (Pentagon) Pass Holders will enter through Gate No. 4 near the National Science Centre, alight inside, exit through Gate No. 3, and park at the Regional Science Centre Campus. SAFFRON (Triangle) and GOLD Pass Holders will use Gate No. 6 near the APSC Office, park behind the Veterinary College Field, and exit through Gate No. 9 via the NH-27 Service Lane after the departure of VVIPs. Liaison Officers’ vehicles will be parked at the Sericulture Field. SILVER, BRONZE, BLUE, and GREEN Pass Holders will alight at Gate No. 7 and park their vehicles at GMC Parking Khanapara, ISBT Khanapara, Assam Accord Field, and other designated areas. After the departure of VVIPs, Gate No. 10, located opposite Koinadhara Hill, will be opened for movement, while escort and pilot vehicles will be allowed parking along the Jayanagar to Tripura Gali stretch.
To minimize congestion, restrictions have also been imposed on the movement of commercial vehicles. On February 24, from 7:00 AM to 11:30 PM, commercial goods vehicles with four wheels and above will not be allowed on NH-27 and NH-17. Additionally, from 9:00 AM to 11:30 PM, three-wheeler commercial vehicles will be restricted from key roads such as A.K. Azad Road, VIP Road, and GS Road (Ulubari to Khanapara). On February 25 and 26, similar restrictions will be in effect from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, covering NH-27, NH-17, and major roads including Zoo Road, Panjabari Road, and VIP Road.
