Guwahati to host FIFA World Cup 2026 trophy display for the first time on Jan 13

On January 13, the FIFA World Cup 2026 Trophy will be exhibited at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, marking a historic first for the Northeast region of India. Assam Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare, Nandita Gorlosa, announced that the trophy will arrive in Guwahati at 10am and will be showcased from 3pm. This return to India represents the trophy’s first public display in 12 years. The official inauguration will occur at 8.30pm, attended by Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma. Alongside the exhibition, a cultural program featuring performances by Shankuraj Konwar and Rito Riba will be held on the Coke Studio stage, starting at 3pm. The trophy’s presence in Guwahati is a significant event for the region, generating excitement among local football enthusiasts and elevating Assam’s profile in the international football community.
