Guwahati hosts seminar on best practices for transformer repair and maintenance

A seminar-cum-workshop on the Code of Practices for Distribution Transformer (DT) Repair, Operation, and Maintenance was successfully conducted at Vivanta Guwahati, attracting key stakeholders from the power sector. The event, hosted by the International Copper Association India (ICAI) in collaboration with the Indian Transformer Manufacturers Association (ITMA), provided valuable insights for engineers and professionals working in the transformer industry. It was supported by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).

In his address, Shri Syedain Abbasi, IAS, Chairman of Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL), emphasized the importance of following the newly established standards on transformer maintenance and repair. He noted that transformers are the “heart” of the distribution network, directly impacting revenue and service quality. “Workshops like these are vital to ensure operational excellence, reduce transformer failures, and enhance power supply reliability,” he said.

The event gathered professionals from various sectors, including operation and maintenance engineers, DT manufacturers, and industry experts. In line with the discussions, the Guwahati market perspective highlighted the region’s growing demand for improved power infrastructure, with industry leaders urging greater collaboration for efficient energy distribution.
