Great Learning, Johns Hopkins launch 16-week certificate in Agentic AI

Global edtech firm Great Learning has partnered with Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering to launch a 16-week online Certificate Program in Agentic AI, aimed at training professionals to build autonomous, goal-driven AI systems. The program targets STEM professionals, AI practitioners, product managers and technical leaders, and will be delivered by Johns Hopkins faculty and industry experts.

The course covers fundamentals of large language models, agent design, and advanced reasoning frameworks such as ReAct and Chain-of-Thought, followed by multi-agent collaboration and responsible AI deployment. Participants will also undergo Python prework and complete applied projects to build a professional portfolio. Upon completion, learners will receive a certificate along with 11 Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

According to Gartner, by 2028, 15% of daily business decisions could be made autonomously by AI, highlighting the growing demand for skilled professionals in this domain. Paul Huckett, Associate Dean at Johns Hopkins Engineering, said agentic AI presents both opportunity and responsibility, requiring professionals who can build and govern such systems. Arjun Nair, Co-Founder of Great Learning, noted that AI is rapidly evolving from a support tool to a decision-making system. In Kolkata, the rise of such specialised AI programs reflects increasing demand among professionals and enterprises in the city to adopt advanced technologies. With Kolkata emerging as a growing hub for IT services and analytics, initiatives like this are expected to support workforce upskilling and strengthen the region’s participation in the evolving AI-driven digital economy.
