The govt. will hold a meet-up with the top retailers such as IMC, Lego, Lulu, Walmart, Simba Dickie, Spinmaster, Hamleys, Ikea and Sanrio. The meeting will be hold with an aim to promote toy exports from India. Few representatives from Indian toy companies such as Universal, Playgro, Dreamplast etc. are also expected to attend the meeting. The meeting is organised by the Toy Association of India(TAI), in partnership with Invest India and DPIIT.
“The discussions will focus on establishing India as a preferred sourcing destination, highlighting the advantages and opportunities available to international companies looking to partner with Indian manufacturers,” the official added.
“The meeting would help international companies to explore strategic collaborations and sourcing opportunities with Indian manufacturers. The discussions will also highlight the government’s initiatives, including the policy measures introduced by the DPIIT,” the industry official said.
The govt. has taken steps to strengthen domestic manufacturing of toys such by increasing import duty and issuance of compulsory quality norms.
An exhibition has been also organised by TAI to strengthen the development of the sector. The exhibition is of four days which will start from 8th of July at Pragati Maidan. The event will be attended by domestic visitors as well as international visitors from 24 countries.
According to sources, India exports toys to the U.S.A, Germany, Canada and UK along with other 100 countries.
