Godrej Enterprises Group (GEG) has launched ‘Udaan’, an industry-led supplier capability-building initiative in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), aimed at strengthening India’s manufacturing ecosystem through MSME development.
Aligarh is the first location for the programme, which will be expanded to 10 cities as part of a wider supplier capability-building programme. Under Udaan, GEG and the CII TPM Club of India have developed a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) curriculum for MSMEs, with specialist consultants supporting participating suppliers in on-ground implementation, productivity improvement and operational excellence.
The cluster-based programme will focus on eliminating operational losses, improving resource productivity and promoting continuous improvement. Progress will be reviewed quarterly, with assessments and factory audits by CII representatives and industry experts. Successful participants will receive recognition from GEG and CII.
GEG said it is the first company in the hardware industry, and among a select group of Indian organisations, to extend a structured TPM excellence programme across its supplier ecosystem.
In Guwahati, the initiative could offer a relevant model for MSMEs and supplier networks seeking to improve productivity, quality and manufacturing competitiveness through structured capability-building programmes.
The participating Aligarh suppliers have been associated with GEG for six years and have completed the Partnership Competitiveness Programme, ZED Certification and begun Lean Manufacturing Certification. GEG was recently recognised by Laghu Udyog Bharati, Aligarh, for its contribution to MSME development.
