Godrej Consumer Products tops global sustainability ranking on Dow Jones Index

Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) has been ranked the world’s No.1 sustainable FMCG company on the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Sustainability Index 2025, marking the first time the company has secured the top global position on the prestigious benchmark. The company scored 89 out of 100 in the Personal Products category in S&P Global’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), which evaluated more than 3,500 companies worldwide. The assessment measures performance across environmental, social and governance (ESG) parameters including emission reduction, sustainable sourcing, packaging management, water stewardship, labour practices and product lifecycle management.

The recognition also marks a milestone year for GCPL as it completed 10 consecutive years of participation in the S&P Global CSA, reflecting the company’s long-term commitment to sustainability, transparency and continuous improvement. GCPL Managing Director and CEO Sudhir Sitapati said the global recognition was a defining milestone for the company. “Sustainability is deeply embedded in our purpose of bringing the goodness of health and beauty to consumers in emerging markets. This recognition reflects our progress in greener products, climate action, water positivity and energy efficiency,” he said.

Pakzan Dastoor, Head – Sustainability & CSR at Godrej Industries Group, noted that the recognition reflects a decade of disciplined efforts under the group’s Good & Green philosophy, integrating emission reduction, sustainable sourcing and waste management into core business operations. In Guwahati, sustainability-focused FMCG products are increasingly gaining traction among urban consumers in Assam. Retailers say demand for environmentally responsible brands, particularly in personal care and household products, has grown steadily as awareness about sustainable consumption rises among younger buyers.
