Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. (GCPL), in collaboration with Atypical Advantage, unveiled India’s first ‘Work That Includes’ Employability Toolkit aimed at driving meaningful disability inclusion in the manufacturing sector. Launched during the EmployAbility in Manufacturing Summit 2025 in Mumbai, the toolkit provides practical guidance for companies to integrate persons with disabilities (PwD) into factory operations, covering job mapping, workflow redesigns, accessibility checklists, Indian Sign Language (ISL) glossaries, and real-world case studies.
With over 30 million employed in manufacturing but PwD workforce participation at just 36%, GCPL and Atypical Advantage aim to shift focus from “why inclusion” to “how inclusion” is achieved. GCPL’s factories in Malanpur, Madhya Pradesh, and Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu, have set benchmarks for accessible workplaces, hiring more than 20 PwDs and embedding inclusion into training and operational processes.
In Guwahati, the initiative is expected to encourage local manufacturers to adopt similar inclusion practices. Industry leaders in the region indicate that integrating PwDs could improve productivity, workforce stability, and brand reputation, while fostering socially responsible manufacturing practices in Assam’s industrial landscape. Vineet Saraiwala, Founder of Atypical Advantage, noted, “Inclusion is both operationally viable and value-adding. With the right mindset, it benefits companies, communities, and the nation.” The toolkit is available for download online, offering a roadmap for inclusive manufacturing across India.
