Godrej Agrovet Limited has announced a targeted winter strategy to empower fish farmers West Bengal addressing the seasonal challenges that hinder productivity. As temperatures drop, fish experience reduced digestive enzyme activity and nutrient absorption, causing physiological stress and impacting farmer profitability.
The strategy integrates scientific approaches, digital tools, and community support to tackle these issues. Dhrubajyoti Bannerjee, CEO of the Aquafeed Business at Godrej Agrovet, stated, “By leveraging digital platforms and community-driven initiatives, we’re creating a comprehensive ecosystem that empowers farmers to navigate the most challenging seasonal constraints.”
Key initiatives include the Matsya Margadarshan digital campaign, offering expert advice via Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook, and the Aqua Mitra series, which promotes peer learning through live broadcasts and farmer stories. The Godrej Aqua Insiders program highlights sustainability, green practices, and women’s empowerment in aquaculture. In Dakshin Dinajpur, a vital aquaculture market, this strategy is anticipated to drive significant change. Farmers in the region see immense potential in adopting expert-recommended practices and leveraging digital platforms to improve productivity during winter.
