Godrej Agrovet Limited (Godrej Agrovet), in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) – Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE), has unveiled ArgoRid, an innovative fish lice controller. Designed to address Argulus infections, which impact 48% of Indian aquaculture ponds and result in annual losses of USD 62.5 million, ArgoRid promises a farmer-friendly, easy-to-use solution that enhances fish health and productivity.
Balram Singh Yadav, Managing Director of Godrej Agrovet, emphasized the product’s role in empowering fish farmers. “ArgoRid is a reliable, research-driven solution to one of the aquaculture industry’s biggest challenges. This public-private partnership with ICAR-CIFE will strengthen India’s fisheries sector and contribute to the nation’s Blue Revolution,” he stated.
Dr. Mohammad Aklakur of ICAR-CIFE hailed ArgoRid as a scientific breakthrough, highlighting its dual benefits of eliminating fish lice and boosting immunity.The product’s launch is expected to benefit fish farmers in Guwahati and across Assam, where aquaculture is integral to local economies. By enhancing fish survival rates and productivity, ArgoRid could boost incomes and strengthen Guwahati’s fish market, a critical hub for regional trade.
