Godrej Agrovet launches ArgoRid, a game-changer for fish health management

Godrej Agrovet Limited (Godrej Agrovet), in collaboration with ICAR-CIFE, has introduced ArgoRid, a revolutionary fish lice controller. The product is designed to heal lesions caused by parasitic attachments (Argulus spots) and boost fish immunity, empowering aqua farmers with a comprehensive solution to a longstanding challenge.

Argulus infections impact nearly 48% of Indian aquaculture ponds, leading to an annual loss of $62.5 million. ArgoRid’s easy-to-use formulation allows seamless integration into feeding practices, benefiting both small-scale and large commercial fish farmers. Balram Singh Yadav, Managing Director, Godrej Agrovet, emphasized, “This launch aligns with our commitment to sustainability and farmer empowerment, contributing significantly to India’s Blue Revolution.”

Kathi market, known for its thriving fish trade, stands to benefit immensely from ArgoRid. Improved fish health and survival rates are expected to bolster market supply, enhancing economic prospects for traders and consumers alike. The innovation promises to address seasonal productivity challenges and boost overall market dynamics. Dr. Mohammad Aklakur from ICAR-CIFE highlighted ArgoRid’s nutraceutical breakthrough, while Dhrubajyoti Banerjee, CEO-Aquafeed Business, noted its potential to strengthen India’s position as the third-largest global fish producer.
