Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Limited, a global pharmaceutical company, reaffirmed its commitment to cardiovascular health by collaborating with over 1200 healthcare professionals from 420+ hospitals and clinics in India for their “Take Charge @18” campaign. The initiative saw 410 awareness rallies organized during September, which was observed as “World Heart Month.”
According to the World Heart Report 2023, CVDs are the leading cause of mortality and amount to about a third of all global deaths. The World Health Organization (2016) reports that Non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including Cardiovascular Diseases, account for 60% of total adult deaths in India, with CVDs accounting for over 26% of these deaths, resulting in 17.7 million deaths. High blood pressure is a significant risk factor.
Glenmark’s “Take Charge @18” campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of proactive heart health management starting as young as 18. The campaign emphasizes the role of early intervention in preventing future cardiovascular complications, emphasizing blood pressure monitoring and lifestyle adjustments as powerful tools to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
