Glenmark and API launch “National BP Screening Day” to combat hypertension among youth

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Limited, in collaboration with the Association of Physicians of India (API), has launched the “Take Charge @ 18” initiative, marking the 18th of every month as “National BP Screening Day.” This campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of early blood pressure monitoring, starting at age 18.

The launch event at the Gateway of India featured an innovative 3D video projection that engaged over 100,000 healthcare professionals through live streaming. Glenmark’s ambitious goal is to educate 10 crore Indians about hypertension, a growing concern among the youth, with an ICMR study indicating a 35.5% prevalence of the condition among individuals aged 20 and older.

In Kolkata, there is an increasing demand for health-related products and services as young adults become more health-conscious. Local pharmacies and clinics report heightened interest in blood pressure screenings, aligning with Glenmark’s efforts to promote proactive health management. With over 50 youth awareness programs and 900 hypertension awareness rallies across the nation, Glenmark is strategically positioned to make a significant impact in reducing hypertension rates in India by 2025, fostering a healthier future for the younger generation.
