GE Aerospace to pump $14 million into Pune facility as it marks 10-year milestone

GE Aerospace has announced a USD 14 million investment to expand its Pune manufacturing facility, coinciding with the site’s tenth anniversary. The move follows last year’s USD 30 million expansion and aims to enhance the plant’s capabilities in advanced engine components through upgraded manufacturing processes and automation. “Our Pune team has delivered components for some of our most advanced commercial jet engines with safety and quality at the forefront,” said Vishwajit Singh, Managing Director of GE Aerospace Pune. “This investment underscores our commitment to the Make in India initiative and advancing India’s role in global aerospace manufacturing.”

Since its inception, the Pune facility has evolved into a high-tech aerospace parts hub, supported by over 300 local suppliers out of GE Aerospace’s 2,200 nationwide partners. The site has trained more than 5,000 production associates in precision manufacturing, while maintaining ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications, reflecting sustainability and operational excellence. Kolkata’s industrial sector is expected to benefit indirectly, as suppliers and ancillary service providers linked to GE Aerospace’s Pune operations explore opportunities to expand or diversify production. Analysts note that increased aerospace activity could create ripple effects across eastern India’s manufacturing ecosystem, including logistics, component supply, and skill development initiatives.

With the FLIGHT DECK lean operating model driving efficiency, safety, and productivity, GE Aerospace Pune is set to reinforce India’s position in global aerospace supply chains.
