Gaurav Gogoi claims that “Vision Assam” is exposed by the NITI Aayog report

Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led state government on Tuesday, claiming that the recently released NITI Aayog report has punctured Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s “Vision Assam” narrative.Taking to his official social media handle, Gogoi accused the state government of indulging in publicity rather than addressing the fundamental issues that affect the daily lives of people. He said the NITI Aayog’s findings on Assam’s development indicators were a wake-up call that highlighted the gap between promises and ground reality.

According to the latest survey, Assam has been ranked 26th among Indian states in health and well-being, 25th in quality education, and 22nd in the zero-hunger category. Gogoi argued that these low rankings reflect the “serious neglect” of the state’s basic development priorities.“The latest NITI Aayog survey has exposed the reality behind CM Himanta Biswa Sarma’s so-called ‘Vision Assam’. On key development goals, Assam ranks among the bottom five states in India,” the Congress leader said.

He further added that despite years of tall promises and government propaganda, Assam continues to struggle with poor healthcare services, inadequate educational facilities, and widespread hunger. Gogoi, who also serves as the Deputy Leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha, stressed that it was time for citizens to hold the government accountable.“Instead of chasing hollow records, the government must focus on urgent issues like education, health, and hunger. It is time every Assamese stands up and questions this neglect of our future,” Gogoi said.
