Locals said the situation has added to stress and inconvenience, especially during exam periods.
Concerns have also been raised over the lack of communication from the departments responsible for water supply. Residents said they have not received clear information on the cause of the disruption or when normal supply will be restored. In a statement, Niren Bhandari, State Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party (Sikkim unit), urged the authorities to take immediate steps to address the crisis. He called for deployment of water tankers in affected areas and speedy repair of damaged pipelines.
Bhandari also stressed the need for long-term solutions, including identification of new water sources and regular public updates to avoid similar situations in the future. He appealed for the intervention of the Chief Minister to ensure quick action and better coordination among departments. Residents have demanded urgent relief measures, stating that access to safe drinking water is essential and cannot be delayed. Authorities are yet to issue a detailed response on the situation.
