The Ministerial Conference on Women Empowerment is being held in Gujarat, Gujarat, from August 2 to 3, under India’s G20 Presidency. The three-day meeting, chaired by Smriti Irani, will bring over 150 delegates from G20 members, invited countries, and international organizations. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Minister of State for Women and Child Development Dr. Mahendra Munjpara, and India’s G20 Chief Co-ordinator Harsh Vardhan Shringla attended the inaugural session.
The 3-day Ministerial Conference began with a special video message by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Addressing the delegates, Prime Minister said, “When women prosper, the world prospers.” He added, “Her leadership promotes inclusivity and her voice inspires positive change.” He also shared, “Women entrepreneurs are significant contributors to the global economy.”
Minister Smriti Z Irani addressed the inaugural session of the Ministerial meeting, emphasizing sustainable and inclusive economic growth through women-led development. The conference aims to achieve women’s empowerment, gender equality, and SDGs through education, women entrepreneurship, economic equality, partnerships, climate resilience, and digital skills. The Ministry of Women and Child Development organized an exhibition on India’s 75th anniversary, showcasing various aspects of women’s contributions to the economy.
